Drywall, et al

I've been awfully slack this week and haven't updated Hearthwood; not even after last weekend.

On Saturday, Jean, Lucas and my mother all helped to finish the siding on the wall with our bedroom dormer and Lucas's bedroom, a full height wall.

Jean and Lucas went out to get us a wonderful KFC lunch, which promptly put us into a food coma. You know the state. You're wonderfully drowsy, but shouldn't be because you need to do something productive.

Drywall Arrives, Well Works!

While I had to work on Saturday, Jean and her dad were out helping to unload drywall.

The truck arrived with no forklift in tow (Victor wasn't able to procure a truck small enough to get through the tunnel, equipped with one). At 8:00am, he called Jean to say he wasn't going to be able to unload the drywall, and what were we to do? Jean, I might say here, is not someone who takes things lying down.

Drywall Up!

What an incredible weekend! I took Friday off and was hoping to get some circuit breakers wired or some other one-person task, but it ended up that I was quite essential that day.

The drywall crew had already begun work the day before and was hard at work by the time I arrived around 9:00.

My main goal Friday was to plumb the drain for our jacuzzi tub, and put in the framing pieces necessary to make drywalling easier.

Front Porch up, More Siding Done!

We put nearly two weekends of work into this past one!

We managed not only to get almost three walls of siding done, but put up the front porch as well!

Saturday morning began as a hot and sultry morning, but not a cloud in sight. Hopefully we wouldn't get any thunderstorms until the evening...

We've Started Priming!

Jean and her parents got the kitchen and the main floor bedroom painted with primer today, but it's going to take us the weekend to finish painting everything we're realizing.

The good news is that she spoke with the foreman, and he guarantees us they can do the final sanding next week during the week so there is a 99.99% chance we will be painting the colors on next weekend, the 5th and 6th of June. (June already!!! no!!!)

Anyway, if you are staying in town for the holidays, drop on by and paint some primer and if not, we'll see you next weekend to paint some fun colors! woo hoo! Fiona is even flying 3,000 cross country just to help us paint primer this weekend. Well, ok, also to see Lucas, us and her parents, but really to paint primer! :) So you can also come out and (while sweltering in our humidity) hear tales of the gorgeous, mythological place where there is an ocean, with surfing waves, and dry heat..... a place called......... Cullyfornya.
