1554 Brussels Style Black Ale
Appearance: Dark Brown
Taste: Slightly Bitter
Brewery: New Blgn Brewing Co
Overall Rating: Great
Notes: "1554 Brussels Style Black Ale is our info-age revival of a beer enjoyed long ago in the taverns of Brussels, Belgium. From an ancient brewing book, our researchers discovered the oldest reference to these black beers as the year 1554. While certainly black with toasted maltiness, this ale is not a stout or a porter. Rather this dark's secret to quaffability lies in its bright acidity from the yeast and alluring, spicy undertones."

Notes: "You're not worthy." "Arrogant Bastard Ale: This is an aggressive beer. You probably won't like it. It is quite doubtful that you have the taste of sophistication to be able to appreciate an ale of this quality and depth. We would suggest that you stick to safer and more familiar territory --- maybe something with a multi-million dollar ad campaign aimed at convincing you it's made in a little brewery, or one that implies that their tasteless fizzy yellow beer will give you more sex appeal. Perhaps you think that multi-million dollar ad campaigns make a beer taste better. Perhaps you're mouthing your words as you read this. The Brewery: Located in North County San Diego, we are a small, honest microbrewery that concentrates on creating the freshest and most satisfying ales imaginable by using only the freshest natural ingredients. We take great pride and care in creating our beers, performing virtually step of our brewing process by hand. It takes a little longer,"

Appearance: Absolutely black, opaque.
Aroma: Very slight fruit, not characteristically belgian (being so reserved), malt, some wood..
Taste: malty, deep. Rough mouthfeel for a belgian. No diacetyl at all. Fruity, plum or dark cherry..
Brewery: Unibroue: Quebec, Canada
Overall: 7/10.
Personal: Thought I would like a Belgian dark just because I love dark ales and belgian brews. It's pleasant but I enjoy a good dubbel or trippel more so.
